Everyone needs to feel needed, wanted and important. In preschool, one of the ways we create this feeling for children is by assigning jobs each day. The children are responsible for checking the job chart to see what they get to do each day. Be sure to ask your child what their favorite job is at school! | It is critical that bikes and helmets are located, the heavy door is held for our friends (Leader) and everyone gets in safely (Caboose). Plants need water, fish must eat and we cannot start snack without the ice water and milk! It takes all of our friends to make the classroom run smoothly. Oh, and just like in the real world, once in a while we get the "day off" to relax. |

Outdoor time is more than just recess. It is a time to experience learning and materials in a different setting. We can enjoy quiet activities or let our bodies run, jump, lift and explore our beautiful outdoor classroom as fast and as loud as we can!
The first few weeks of preschool are an adventure. New friends, teachers and toys. New smells, expectations and food. Our goal is to create confident, independent children, who love to interact, share and dive into new experiences.
At snack time, we pour our own water, open wrappers and milk, clean up spills and ask our friends to "Please pass the napkins!" Our first cooking project was a cold salad. We chopped, measured, counted, cut and used team work to complete our delicious mix. We know from experience that when children help cook, they are more likely to try new foods. Take a minute to ask your child what they liked the most about this project! Little hands worked hard to learn to use REAL kitchen tools. It took team work to chop red peppers in the food chopper. Everyone cut their own tomato in half. Some tried the squish method, while others got the hang of moving the knife back and forth. The best part about this experience was hearing over and over again "I DID IT!" |

18+ years working with little people have given me an appreciation for the finer things in life: giggles, wide eyes, high fives and a good book. All signs of a great day! Archives
